Subject: Boeing After School Program
What: WABS/ Boeing Volunteers are partnering to provide after school clubs in Math and Science
Grade Level: grades 4-5 and grades 6- 7-8
Structure:
Boeing employees are available to conduct six lessons in either math or science or both after school for one hour at your school during the Fall quarter in 2007.
Boeing volunteers have been trained to present a special curriculum designed to enhance Science and Math GLE’s. The Boeing Math and Science in Action Program was designed by local teachers to help promote science and math “hand-on” learning experiences. These activities can help struggling students and reinforce math and science concepts.
Implementation:
Each school would need to commit to the following items:
1) Provide a classroom with at least one computer with access to the internet
2) Recruit a sponsoring teacher to provide supervision during the one hour program and to coordinate with the Boeing Volunteers
3) Recruit students to attend the club(s) - Min 10 students/ Max 25 students
4) Provide transportation home for students after the club ends
