Elementary Theater Arts Curriculum

Representing a collaborative effort of teachers and administrators from school districts across the Puget Sound Region, the Elementary Theater Arts curriculum strives to create a usable guide for teachers in Theater/Drama. It's purpose is to provide a bare-bones working model for the K-5 level, based on current drafts of the Revised State Standards for the Arts and the Theater Frameworks from OSPI. This curriculum guide was designed by seven dedicated classroom teachers, in conjunction with other arts educators from all levels and disciplines who worked together for three days in January of 2001.

Supported by both the Washington State Arts Commission and the Washington Alliance for Better Schools, this guide exists as a model for districts throughout the state for use in developing and implementing standards based Theatre curriculum for the non-specialist elementary classroom teacher.
